The Featherston Community Centre is hosting the ‘Localising Food’ Tour Aotearoa – New Zealand presents Politics of Food Security: Critical Information about our rights to grow and share food in Aotearoa/NZ.

Join presenters Susie Lees and Robina McCurdy for a pot luck before their exciting talk looking at the current food system. A night that will empower you to help develop and achieve local food resilience for you, your family and others in the community. On Sunday there will be a workshop called “Empowering Local Food Resilience”. This workshop will teach you using a permaculture design strategy, how to plan your garden in your back yard or on a larger scale and develop a calendar on when to plant, manage and harvest your produce for the year. Robina McCurdy is employed by the Earth Care Education Aotearoa Trust and is a permaculture and biodynamic educator. She has integrated food security in all of her work. Susie Lees is an organic farmer with a stall at the Nelson Farmers market. She has been a significant player in the GE Free movement. Susie and Robina have been on a 3 month tour of communities throughout New Zealand. They are in Featherston just for the weekend of the 8th & 9th June.
